New Client : Ted Brown

December 19, 2012

Ted Brown is a New Zealand-born singer, songwriter and guitar player living in Los Angeles, California. He is the recipient of a NZ music award for 'Most Promising Male Vocalist' and has contributed to recordings by many artists both in NZ and his adopted home. In recent years, Ted is probably best known as guitarist, background vocalist and collaborator with his old friend and Pagan Records label-mate Greg Johnson, a Kiwi musical icon.

After a hiatus from music in the late 90's, Ted joined forces with Johnson in 2001, eventually relocating to the U.S. the following year. As well as contributing to the last five GJ albums, Ted released his first album, Shaky's Blessing, in 2007 with the help of L.A.-based Brit producer/musician Sid Jordan.

Shaky's Blessing was the collaborative effort of Ted's new L.A. musical family, and it showcased his long-time passion for Americana and country. Songs from the album like 'Ropes and Ribbons' and 'These Days' are getting steady usage in U.S. television and film. Ted traveled to Sydney, Australia, to team up with fellow NZ ex-pat, director Matt Palmer, to shoot the clip for 'I Bet Myself'. The follow-up video with Palmer, 'Moments More Precious Than Diamonds,' was shot on a road trip around NZ's north island and highlights the bittersweet beauty of both the landscape and the song.

On a recent trip home to perform with Greg on the highly acclaimed 'Ball Gowns in Small Towns' tour, Ted began tracking for his next album at Roundhead Studios in Auckland. With NZ producer Wayne Bell, Ted set out to capture what he does best: live performances of beautiful tunes with minimal, tasteful contributions from some old friends.

With release scheduled for early 2013, the forthcoming album promises to be the best yet!
