Faith, Goals, and Whiteboard

August 31, 2012

Never give up and practice FAITH

This has been one of the toughest things for me to learn.  There are going to be months where you wake up at 3am in a cold sweat, wondering how you are going to cover your overhead, payroll, and other expenses because clients are not paying on time.  There are also going to be very slow months where you only have a few clients that are “active,” which is why you never want to stop hustling for new work even when you are busy.

Have weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals

Always look to the future.  Make realistic goals for the weeks, months, and years ahead.  Without a roadmap, your journey will be bumpy and have lots of unanswered questions.

Get whiteboard, and use lots of it – your brain can’t hold it all in

Storyboarding/whiteboarding doesn’t just happen in film and TV meetings;  it happens in every business.  Covering our office in whiteboard has really opened up new areas for our collective creativity.  It has also allowed us to see what our burning items are and what’s happening on the near horizon.
